Where the unknown becomes playable.

Haunted Echoes Studios develops original games focused on horror, mystery, folklore, exploration, historical settings, supernatural storytelling, cooperative gameplay, and meaningful player decisions.

MysteryHorrorExplorationHistorical SimulationPlayer Choice

Every echo should lead somewhere.

Environments, sound, stories, clues, gameplay systems, and player decisions should reinforce one another. Each element should contribute to the mystery, the atmosphere, or the consequences of the experience.

WORLD

Atmospheric Worlds

Locations communicate history, danger, mystery, and character through environmental storytelling and exploration.

PLAY

Connected Systems

Mechanics, clues, environments, characters, threats, and objectives should work together instead of feeling like unrelated features.

CHOICE

Meaningful Decisions

Player choices can affect available information, locations, allies, enemies, objectives, and final outcomes.

Ghostline Chess

The studio’s active playable release now pairs a complete chess engine with selectable AI difficulty, full-square move highlighting, three horror board themes, a refined desktop layout, and layered audio.

  • Oxblood Chapel, Crypt, and Moonlit Graveyard board themes

The public download remains v1.2.0 with the tactical AI, current artwork, complete rules, and layered audio milestone. The August visual-and-difficulty refresh is the current development build and will be packaged separately after final release testing. Download the ZIP file, extract it, and run GhostlineChess.exe. Windows may display a SmartScreen warning because the prototype is currently unsigned.

The 9th Vessel

A four-investigator cooperative paranormal mystery set across real locations in Jerome, Arizona. The team uncovers a fixed historical truth while evidence and supernatural encounters change between playthroughs.

Connected clues, witness accounts, environmental changes, voice mimicry, limited backtracking, and an adaptive AI Director make every investigation feel different without revealing the mystery before players experience it.

Current Direction

  • Four-player cooperative paranormal investigation
  • Real Jerome landmarks recreated as playable environments
  • One fixed underlying mystery with replayable evidence placement
  • Connected clues, EVP activity, and voice-mimic systems
  • Consequential progression with limited backtracking
  • AI-directed encounters that react to team behavior
  • Player and team decisions shape the investigation's outcome

The Boston Ripper: Blood Before Liberty

A grounded murder-mystery horror game set in Boston during 1774–1775, as the city moves toward revolution and a ritual killer exploits the growing unrest.

Players investigate crime scenes manually, question suspects, build an evidence board, and decide which clues can be trusted before political pressure forces the case toward an ending.

Current Concept

  • Open-city historical investigation across colonial Boston
  • Customizable investigator name and personal background
  • Manual crime-scene searches and evidence-board connections
  • Partially randomized killer identity and suspect behavior
  • Conflicting testimony, uncertain clues, and false leads
  • British authority and colonial unrest affect the investigation
  • Multiple political, personal, and case-resolution endings

Whiteout Protocol

Six investigators arrive at a frozen research base to discover what happened to the previous crew. Everyone begins human, but the game AI eventually creates a hidden infection event somewhere inside the base.

The infected player slowly loses control through subtle camera turns, unexplained controller vibration, strange impulses, and involuntary actions before the organism fully emerges.

Current Concept

  • Six-player cooperative and asymmetric multiplayer
  • Soldier, doctor, mechanic, and specialist classes
  • AI-directed infection placed during exploration
  • Investigation into the missing previous crew
  • Dynamic day/night cycle, snowstorms, and blizzards
  • Sub-zero survival, heat, visibility, and equipment systems
  • The creature grows stronger as players are eliminated

Investigation should create uncertainty.

Players should not receive the same clues, threats, locations, or ending every time they begin an investigation.

The project is being designed around incomplete information, conflicting accounts, supernatural deception, limited time, and decisions that alter what the group discovers.

1

Choose the Investigation

Players select from multiple haunted locations instead of visiting every site in one session.

2

Gather Connected Evidence

Clues, stories, objects, and supernatural events reveal different pieces of the mystery.

3

Survive the Deception

Possession, mimicry, and unreliable information make it difficult to know which characters or players can be trusted.

4

Shape the Ending

Evidence, location choices, survival, and group decisions determine the final confrontation and outcome.

Building experience one system at a time.

Smaller playable projects and focused prototypes help build the programming, design, testing, publishing, and production experience required for larger games.

STORY

Narrative and Lore

Develop stories, characters, histories, locations, clues, and world rules that support discovery and player choice.

GAME

Gameplay Systems

Create mechanics that generate tension, cooperation, strategy, replayability, and meaningful consequences.

DEV

Build reliable code, interfaces, save systems, prototypes, testing processes, and release workflows.
